Eating kosher in the 17th: Villiers and beyond

Avenue de Villiers, Ternes, Prony: a guide to the kosher 17th. What the Beth Din de Paris directory names, what still needs confirmation, bassari or halavi.

The 17th is the arrondissement where you run out of excuses. As of 5 October 2026, to our knowledge, 23 restaurants in the 17th have documented kosher certification: the official Beth Din de Paris directory names them at their address. No other arrondissement has as many. The Keila catalogue also knows 24 addresses there cited only by kosher directories, pending confirmation. The real issue is therefore no longer finding a restaurant, but knowing on what basis it is described as kosher. So we organised this guide by evidence level, then by type. The updated list is on kosher restaurants in the 17th with supporting evidence.

This guide is a snapshot of the catalogue on 5 October, including directory entries. The 17th arrondissement page retains only listings with evidence (certification or declaration) and changes with each check: it is the reference.

23 certifications documented through the Beth Din de Paris

All come from the same source: the official live Beth Din de Paris directory, published by the Consistoire. For each one, Keila checked on 2 October 2026 that the establishment appears at its exact address, with coverage for the whole establishment, and that the holder’s name matches the restaurant name. The directory classifies each address as a “bassari restaurant” or “halavi restaurant”.

What this does not tell you: the source publishes no copy of a teouda, individual reference or validity dates. Every piece of evidence is checked regularly: evidence marked suspended no longer counts as a yes. Each listing shows the check date: look at it.

Found in directories: 24 addresses

These addresses appear in one or more kosher directories, without certification documented on their listing to date. The directory often indicates a type and an organisation: the listing displays these as “indicated supervision”, to be confirmed. Many cite the Rabbinat Loubavitch de France, Rav Katz or Rav Rottenberg, for whom Keila has not yet documented certification from an official source. That does not mean “less kosher”. It means “not yet documented”.

Meat

Eight addresses listed as meat. Israeli food and grills at Ashkara and Azuelos, French at La Fille du Boucher and Chez Shmou, a bit of everything at Berbèche 17e and Maison Victoria, and Indian at Safrane. A note on Yomha - Shabbat Experience, on rue Rennequin: its name mentions Shabbat, but its listing describes no set meal. A name is not information. Call.

Dairy

Twelve addresses listed as dairy, and kosher dairy food in the 17th remains mainly a matter of pizza and pasta: Iossa, Il Nuovo, Flavio, Maestro 17e, Mr & Mrs Bond, Gabrielli, Dizengoff 17e and Alfonso Halavi. Across Paris, of the 38 addresses listed as dairy with a recorded cuisine, 27 mention Italian food or pizza. Café Joseph combines Japanese and Italian, while KANTEEN offers dairy Chinese food, a change of pace. Sam Pâtisserie and K Healthy have no recorded cuisine: we stick to the names.

Mixed or unspecified type

Baba Café, on rue de Courcelles, is listed as both meat and dairy by directories, which does not tell you how things are organised on site. For Aux Surprises, Doron 17e and Beno Café, no type is indicated. Do not confuse Beno Café, at 14 rue Rennequin, with Chez Beno, at number 9 on the same street: Chez Beno is the one named in the Beth Din directory. In Keila, unknown information is never a positive answer: these addresses do not appear when you filter by bassari or halavi.

Where the addresses cluster

If you want to walk and choose on the spot, a few streets do the job. Avenue de Villiers has seven addresses, six named by the Beth Din: Bozen Villiers at number 39, Chlew Villiers at 70, Nina Sushi Villiers at 86, Les Jardins du Belvédère at 111, l’Inté Caffé at 122 and Maison Gabriel at 124. The seventh, Mr & Mrs Bond at 109, was found only in a directory. Rue Rennequin has five addresses across evidence levels, from number 9 to 38. Three each on avenue des Ternes, rue Laugier, rue de Prony and rue Torricelli. In the app, the Explore map displays all of this around you, with the same evidence levels.

How to read this list

Documented certification: Keila found the establishment named at this address by a supervising organisation in a dated public source, and the listing displays that source and its check date. Declaration: the restaurant itself describes itself as kosher, on its website or menu; useful information, but not a certification. Found in directories: the address appears in one or more kosher directories, and the listing says so with “to be confirmed”, because those indications are not verified certification. If your requirements are strict, open the listing, check the source and date, and call before travelling.

The 17th has two neighbours in the catalogue: kosher addresses in the 16th and, just beyond the ring road, those in Levallois-Perret. To see how it compares with the rest of Paris, there is the kosher map of Paris by arrondissement, and all listings are in the restaurant index. Filters by type, organisation and neighbourhood are in the Keila app, coming soon to the App Store.

Frequently asked questions

Is this up to date?
The numbers in this article correspond to the catalogue published on 5 October 2026. Certifications were checked on 2 October in the Beth Din de Paris directory and are checked regularly; evidence marked suspended no longer counts as a yes. An address may have changed since: the listing, and a phone call, take precedence over this article.
Why is a particular restaurant in the 17th missing?
Because the catalogue is still being built: 290 addresses in Paris and Île-de-France as of 5 October 2026, to our knowledge, across all dietary categories, and not every address that exists. Some listings are still awaiting verification, others have escaped us, and others are no longer published for now. Suggest it through the app (“Suggest an address”) or write to thomas@keila.app.
Who checks?
The Keila team records sources, dates them and shows what kind they are. Keila does not certify anything: certification comes from a supervising organisation, and Keila simply says whether it found it, where and when. Details are on the method page, and how to check for yourself is in Beth Din de Paris certified restaurants: how to check.
Opening hours, Shabbat, Sundays?
In the app, almost all listings in the 17th now have indicative weekly hours, with their source (often the restaurant website or an online listing) and recording date. Indicative is the key word: on Friday afternoon or the eve of a holiday, call. We cover this in more detail in our article on Shabbat and restaurants. On Sundays, almost everything is open: the list is in kosher restaurants open on Sundays in Paris.

Do you run a restaurant in the 17th whose listing says “to be confirmed”? Send your evidence and we will display it with its source: right this way.
