Vegan and vegetarian in Paris: a guide to declarations

Paris vegan and vegetarian restaurants grouped by scope: the whole venue or selected options. Sourced, dated declarations, never presented as kosher.

Yes, an app born to find kosher places also talks about vegan food. No, it is not a betrayal: Keila covers kosher, vegan and vegetarian, with the same principle for all. We show who said what, when, and for which part of the menu. The Paris places shown here have a vegan or vegetarian declaration. Here is how they break down, and what each word really means.

“The whole venue” or “options”: the question that matters

Each declaration has a scope. The whole venue means entirely vegan or vegetarian cooking: you can order without hesitation, at least on that criterion. Options means a mixed menu with some suitable dishes: useful for a group lunch, less reassuring if you also avoid shared cooking equipment. Keila shows scope on every listing and never inflates it. A menu with one vegetarian burger is still a burger menu.

Entirely vegetarian places

No meat or fish here, but dairy products or eggs may be on the menu: vegetarian is not vegan, and the listing does not confuse them. Both Maslow locations (quai de la Mégisserie and rue de Picardie) declare an entirely vegetarian menu. Tien Hiang, rue Bichat, describes vegetarian Asian cooking, and Sangeetha, rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, vegetarian Indian cooking.

Vegan is not kosher (and neither is rue des Rosiers)

We say this clearly because confusion is common: a vegan or vegetarian declaration does not answer the kashrut question. Supervision, product origins and the kitchen itself fall under an organisation, not a meat-free menu. No place on this list is presented here as kosher. Two also have a kosher mention, handled separately: 42 Degrés carries a directory mention that we cannot link to a kosher directory, and Aïko is named in the official Beth Din de Paris directory as a meat restaurant. These are distinct from their vegetarian or vegan declarations, explained in our articles on the 9th and the 17th. And being on rue des Rosiers does not give Chez Hanna a kosher mention on its listing.

How to read this list

Each place shows its source (restaurant website, official menu, brand website) and check date. Every declaration is rechecked regularly: when marked suspended, it no longer counts as a yes in the app. Available menus are shown on listings with their source. And if a place changes its recipe, the “Report an error” button is there for that.

For kosher places, go here: where to eat kosher in Paris by arrondissement. The checking method is detailed on the method page, and vegan, vegetarian and kosher filters are in the Keila app, coming soon to the App Store.

Frequently asked questions

Is it up to date?
The table is recalculated from the published places in this selection at each site release. Each declaration has a check date on the listing. Menus may change with the seasons: the listing and restaurant take precedence over this article.
Why is my favourite vegan restaurant missing?
The catalogue is being built and does not cover every place in Paris and Île-de-France. Suggest it in the app or write to thomas@keila.app.
Who checks?
The Keila team records the declaration where the restaurant publishes it, dates it and shows its scope. Keila certifies nothing: it tells you where the information comes from.
Can a vegan place suit a kosher diet?
Not on its vegan declaration alone. For kosher food, check the listing’s kosher evidence, if any, and its source.

Do you run a plant-based or vegetarian restaurant whose listing is missing or has the wrong scope? The restaurant owners’ area is there for that.
