A kosher walk from the Champs-Élysées to the palaces

Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Élysées, Grand Palais and Petit Palais: a walk with a kosher meal on Rue Jean-Mermoz.

This kosher walk near the Champs-Élysées follows the avenue towards the more open surroundings of Grand Palais and Petit Palais, then reaches Rue Jean-Mermoz for a meal. See the major façades without making every monument a compulsory indoor visit. The basic route is outdoors. If an exhibition appeals, choose it beforehand and shorten your time on the avenue. Keep a coherent walk with a planned meal a few streets away.

Distances and times are route estimates. Indoor visits are optional and may require separate reservations under each venue’s admission conditions.

1. View the Arc without crossing the roundabout

Start at the top of the Champs-Élysées facing the Arc de Triomphe. To reach the monument’s forecourt, use the designated underground passage, never the roundabout’s traffic lanes. You can also remain on the avenue pavement and begin the descent. Climbing the monument requires separate admission and time and is not included in this outdoor walk.

2. Follow the avenue down to the Rond-Point

Walk down the Champs-Élysées on one side for as long as practical. Fewer crossings make it easier to enjoy the avenue without zigzagging between windows. Near the Rond-Point, the setting opens towards gardens and palaces. If culture is your main aim, limit shopping time here: this section can expand quietly and consume the rest of your plan.

3. See both palaces and choose one visit

Head to Avenue Winston-Churchill for the façades of Grand Palais and Petit Palais. You can extend to Pont Alexandre III for a river view, returning along the same avenue. For Petit Palais, check the calendar and exhibition conditions. On Mondays, keep this as an outdoor stop. An indoor visit replaces some strolling time; it is not included in the walking estimate.

4. Leave the avenue for Rue Jean-Mermoz

Return towards the Rond-Point and take Rue Jean-Mermoz north of the Champs-Élysées. This short move replaces the monumental avenue with a specific meal destination. Both selected records are on this street but represent different establishments. Check the number and your chosen record, especially if members of your group saved different suggestions.

Where to stop for a kosher meal

Read the two meal options separately, including their food category and documented evidence. They are alternatives in the same area, not stops to combine. Decide before a museum visit and confirm arrangements. Palace cafés and businesses on the avenue are not presented as substitute kosher options.

Before you go

  • The Arc’s underpass has stairs. If you need adapted access, check the monument’s arrangements before planning to reach its forecourt.
  • Choose exhibitions according to the day’s programme. Being able to see a façade does not guarantee walk-in admission.
  • Large crossings and photo stops slow the walk. Leave a buffer before your meal and use crossings even when the opposite pavement looks close.
